Pastor & First Lady

Elder William Cummings was saved at an early age under the pastorate of Elder J.W. Spates. He was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1961 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. He has served the church in numerous capacities: Youth Chairman, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Treasurer, and Northwest Jubilee Fellowship Chairman. This man of God was called to the ministry in March 1991. He is an ordained Elder of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. He has studied Theology at Aenon Bible College and Logos Bible School. In September 1999, Elder Cummings was elevated to assistant pastor of Vernon Memorial Church and was installed as pastor in December 2001. He is the fourth person to pastor this church.
 
Elder William Cummings was born and reared in Bolivar County, Mississippi and currently resides in Cleveland, Mississippi. He attended Howard College in Big Spring, Texas and Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, where he received a BS degree in 1976. Elder Cummings retired as an Environmental Manager from Baxter Healthcare Corporation, where he worked for 28 years in various roles. He is a former member of the Cleveland School District Board of Trustees, where he also served as President. He is currently serving as a board member for the City of Cleveland Airport Commission.
 
His lovely wife, Sister Bertha Cummings, is also laboring in the ministry. She is a retired Senior Vice President of State Bank and Trust, Cleveland, Mississippi, and they have two daughters and sons-in-law, Sonia (Michael Carr) and Sherita (Daryl Starling), and one grandson, Daryl Wilpatrick Starling.
